Statement of faith
What this publication is written from. We state it openly so you can read everything else in context.
Daily Dews of Hope is written from historic, creedal Christian conviction. We are not the publication of any single denomination, and we report on congregations across traditions.
Scripture
We hold the Old and New Testaments to be the inspired word of God and the final authority for faith and practice. We quote passages in full context and name the translation.
God
One God, eternally existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ
Fully God and fully human; crucified, buried, raised bodily, and returning.
Salvation
By grace, through faith, and not by anything we achieve.
The church
The whole company of believers across traditions and centuries. We write for and about that whole company, and we resist making a party of it.
How this shapes our reporting
It does not make us uncritical. Where churches and Christian organisations fail — in safeguarding, in money, in the treatment of people — we report it. Conviction is a reason for honesty, not a substitute for it.
Where we hold our peace
On matters where faithful Christians have long disagreed, we set out the positions fairly rather than campaigning for one. Our readers are capable of thinking.
